Dufferin County Courthouse
The original structure built in 1888 houses the federal court. Two subsequent additions were constructed in 1973 and 1988. The collective facility became the hub of County offices and courthouse. Ng Chee Architects was commissioned to create additional courtrooms within the existing walls of the facility, no addition was to be built. In addition to creating more courtrooms, the scope of work included creating three separate circulation paths. One path for the public, the other two are secure circulations, for the judiciary, and for the prisoner. Working with multiple stakeholders, Ng Chee Architects had to build consensus amongst the different user groups. This was achieved with patience and careful listening.
