Sir Winston Churchill School, Brampton, ON
Several classrooms and kindergarten hub were added to an existing elementary school. The hub encourages parents’ participation in the children’s time at school. Ng Chee Architects created spaces within the hub that are child-friendly and parent-friendly. Brightly painted curved walls dominated the interior partitioning of the hub. Low level bubble windows allow young children to climb into them and be cradled by the window at the same time hanging out beyond the façade. Working kitchen and preparation areas enables parents and care givers to conduct home-like activities during rest and snack times. Existing classrooms were treated to refurbishment and renovation.
