Mon Sheong Home for the Aged, Toronto, Ontario
Mon Sheong Home for the Aged is located within the downtown core of Toronto in an established residential neighbourhood. The original home for the aged was built in the 70's with 65 beds on 5 floors. The bulk of the recent addition is built on two adjacent lots on the east side of the original home. It is 4 storeys in height with a roof garden (with unobstructed views to the skyline of downtown Toronto) for use by residents. The addition has brought the bed count to 105. A full basement is built to accommodate on site parking and function rooms for the community. Renovations to the existing facility were done on a floor-by-floor basis. The entire addition and renovation project was completed with residents on site throughout the duration of the construction.
