Bough Residence, Toronto, Ontario
Located on a quiet street in Yorkville, the Bough residence was transformed from an aging row house into a modern home for the client. The renovation included interior and exterior modifications as well as a redesign of the front and rear gardens.
The main interior staircase was removed and re-oriented to create spacious entry area and living room spaces. The use of solid wood trims stained in contrasting colours punctuates each room. Other translucent material transform a hall closet into doubling as a decorative lantern. The introduction of stainless steel surfaces in the kitchen adds a distinctive modern touch to the kitchen and the adjoining family room.
A new porch at the front of this row house gives it a separate character from its neighbouring unit, while keeping the overall design consistent with the character of these historic homes.
